Calathea Insignis 12cm

The Calathea Insignis has a beautiful pattern on the foliage that combines a feathery, light and dark green pattern down the middle of the leaf with a dark green edging, and a dark, purple underside. These plants create a lovely contrast within your home and will make a great center-piece. 

This plant is sold in a 12cm plastic nursery pot.

Basic Care Requirements: 

Water: Calatheas can be quite sensitive to "tap" water. Fluoridated water can cause the leaves to brown from leaf-burn, we recommend filtering your water or collecting rainwater. They like to be evenly watered and kept moist but not soggy - they don't like to sit in water.⠀

Light: Loves bright indirect light, harsh direct sun will burn the leaves and fade the colour. They can handle low light conditions as well however they won't thrive.⠀⠀⠀

Soil: A standard high-quality indoor plant mix will be fine for Calatheas.

Humidity: They love high humidity levels and a warm position. You may notice browning along the leaf tips if the humidity isn't high enough. You can place on a shallow pebble tray filled with water and mist regularly. Even outside in warm summer rain or bring into the bathroom when you have a hot shower or bath works wonders.⠀⠀

Fertiliser: Use a balanced fertiliser once a month during Spring and Summer. We recommend the Dyna Gro Foliage-Pro fertilizer which promotes the growth of new foliage + aids in the general wellbeing of your plant.

The Dyna Gro Pro-TeKt is a recommended suppliment that encourages cellular growth and strengthening that will aid your plant in protecting itself against pests.
