Cosy and magical gift shop on the Kapiti Coast
This elegant palm has bright green leaves on a slender, arching stem. The leaves are pinnate, which means it has feathered leaflets on each side of the stem. These leaflets form opposite pairs and can be as many as 30 leaflets on each leaf. Given sufficient light, mature Chamaedora Elegans will develop small yellow flowers.
This plant is sold in an 11cm plastic nursery pot.
Light:
Bright, indirect light is best, low-light tolerant.
Water:
Water once approx half of the soil in the pot has dried out, the Parlour Palms are drought tolerant. Ensure the plant has proper drainage to prevent root rot, do not overwater.
Fertiliser:
Do not feed during the winter months, use a weak mix fortnightly during spring and summer months.
Temperature and Humidity:
Keep above 18c, average household temperatures are generally fine for Parlour Palms, during winter keep at a minimum of 10c. Browning of the tips can be an indication tha=he plant isn't getting enough humidity. They can tolerate some dry, indoor air but does better with slightly higher humidity, appreciating the occasional misting with lukewarm water.
Height and Growth Rate:
Slow growing. Ultimate indoor height is approx 1-1.5m, can grow taller in the right conditions.
Please note: plant pictured is an example and may vary slightly.
