The Zygocactus Rhipsalidopsis has a unique, cacti-looking foliage that will eventually grow into a cascading plant as time progresses. This plant will eventually bloom during the right season (typically as the weather begins to cool) which creates a visually stunning effect as the greenery is contrasted with multiple, bright blooms.Â
Sold in a 17.5cm growers hanging pot
Basic Care Requirements:
Water:Â This plant loves to have slightly damp soil and can tolerate being dried out from time to time. Consistently drying out this plant between waterings can stunt the growth of blooms, so ensure that your zygocactus is adequately watered in the warmer months plus the cooler months. After watering, ensure the excess water has been removed from the drip tray to avoid root rot.
Light:Â This plant is enjoys bright, indirect light and can tolerate morning/evening sun, however avoid a harsh mid-day sun spot.Â
Soil:Â A high-quality, well-draining soil mix such as cacti mix.Â
Humidity:Â This plant originates from a tropical area so medium to high humidity is recommended for this plant - the bathroom and kitchen are great high humidity spots.
Fertilizer:Â Use a balanced fertiliser once a month during Spring and Summer. We recommend the Dyna Gro Foliage-Pro as this fertilizer contains all the required nutrients that will support foliage growth in your plant.
The Dyna Gro Pro-TeKt is a recommended suppliment that encourages cellular growth and strengthening that will aid your plant in protecting itself against pests.
Both are available in our 'Plant Food' section of the website.
Toxicity: Toxic.
Origin:Â Â South-East Brazil.
