The Maranta Leuconeura is a beautifully patterned, tropical plant that may also be known as a Prayer Plant. The hues of purples and greens within the leaves plus the dark splashes make a striking addition to any space at home and with the right conditions. Also may produce flowers!

This plant is sold in a 12cm plastic grow pot.

Basic Care Requirements:

Water: Maranta's can be quite sensitive to "tap" water. Fluoridated water can cause the leaves to brown from leaf-burn, we recommend filtering your water or collecting rainwater. They like to be evenly watered and kept moist but not soggy - they don't like to sit in water.⠀

Light: Loves bright indirect light, harsh direct sun will burn the leaves and fade the colour. They can handle low light conditions as well however they won't thrive.⠀

Soil: A standard high-quality indoor plant mix will be fine for Marantas.

Humidity: They love high humidity levels. You'll notice browning along the leaf tips if the humidity isn't high enough. You can place on a shallow pebble tray filled with water and mist regularly. Even outside in warm summer rain or bring into the bathroom when you have a hot shower or bath works wonders.⠀⠀

Fertilizer: Use a balanced fertiliser once a month during Spring and Summer. We recommend the Dyna Gro Grow fertilizer if you would like your Maranta plant to produce lovely, purple flowers and also will aid in the health of your plant.

The Dyna Gro Pro-TeKt is a recommended suppliment that encourages cellular growth and strengthening that will aid your plant in protecting itself against pests.

Both are available in our 'Plant Food' section of the website.

Toxicity: Non-toxic

Origin: Central and South America
